Health Pooled Fund II (HPF II) supports the Government of the Republic of South Sudan with the essential components of the supply chain for pharmaceuticals and medical consumables. County Health Departments (CHDs) are supported in strengthening the supply chain management and utilisation of quality pharmaceuticals and medical products in the county.
Push system: Pharmaceuticals are delivered in form of pre-packed kits based on forecasting of essential medicine us in South Sudan; procurement is taking place on a quarterly interval.
Pull System: Essential medicines are moved to a “pull” system according to the needs of the facilities, while still aligning to the Ministry of Health (MoH) Essential Drugs list. This requires coherent strategies that will oversee quantification, procuring, financing, storage and distribution of drugs and supplies, using standard requisition and reporting forms, stock cards and monitoring the utilisation of drugs at facilities.
